With plenty of contracts set to be expiring soon, 1 WWE Superstar signed a new deal recently.
For those of us wondering if it would be one of those names we’ve covered before…stay tuned.
It was not Seth Rollins or Becky Lynch as far as we know.
Drew McIntyre and Sheamus both remain on the list of those with deals expiring in 2024…also as far as we know.
There are surely others we haven’t even heard about that are waiting on new deals. So who is it?
WWE Superstar Signed A New Deal
The lucky wrestler with a new deal? None other than the recently promoted Dragon Lee.
Lee was a strongly hyped Mexican talent when he was signed by WWE and tabbed for the NXT brand.
According to reports, part of what may have gotten him signed was talk that he wouldn’t be in NXT much more than a year.
Well, less than a year after his NXT in-ring debut, Lee has now worked matches on the main roster.
And while initially it seemed like his exposure may have been just a trial run…it got much bigger.
Lee rapidly turned a sampling into a full-time promotion.
And that promotion has, according to the Wrestling Observer, led to him inking a full-time, full-fledged main roster Superstar contract.
That is a huge accomplishment for Dragon Lee. Per the report, it’s likely a bit tied to his initial signing, with WWE perhaps buying low on him to get him…and now buying high and happy to have him in the fold.
But, there are still big names in need of new deals. You’d expect at least a good chunk of them to be no-brainers, but at the end of the day, it is a business, so you can never tell.
With Lee an unexpected signing, could this move be the start of more talent getting extensions?
