NXT star Cora Jade is on the injured list after a live event recently, which has placed WWE’s training methods in question. More on this, below.

WWE NXT Training Methods Questioned

NXTer Cora Jade missed a big part of 2023 due to injury. When she returned in December of last year, it looked as if she was being set up for a big push.

Sadly, that idea has been put aside for now. Cora is dealing with another injury that happened during an NXT house show on January 12th.

Looks like this time around it’s a knee issue,. Her live events match with NXT Women’s Champion Lyra Valkyria was quickly waved off that night.

During a recent Wrestling Observer Radio show, both Bryan Alvarez and Dave Meltzer chimed in on Cora’s injury. They also talked about similar injuries other NXT stars have had in 2023.

According to Alvarez, Jade’s knee injury is potentially “serious”. It may be a torn ACL, which many stars in NXT have had to deal with.

Meltzer piped up saying that he’s had some sources suggest that WWE NXT’s training and coaching methods might be to blame. He notes this came up before Cora’s injury.

But, when Sol Ruca suffered an injury, as well as a “couple of others” dealt with torn ACLs there was a realization about a potential connection. Dave goes on to mention similar injuries felt by Tegan Nox, Wendi Chu, and Nikita Lyons sparked the idea to question WWE’s training methods.

He notes that “historically”, women don’t get torn ACLs. In Tegan’s case, it was one on each leg. Dave states that WWE NXT wants their talents in great condition, but they might be training them too hard.

He notes that there should be a balance in achieving “good condition” for the ring. However, too much training doesn’t benefit anyone if there is injury because of it.

He notes that the last thing the WWE wants to do is “over-train” its stars. Apparently, the strength and conditioning training NXT is doing is something new for wrestling in terms of sophistication.

In the past, the NXT training focused on athletic drills. Now the focus is more on heavy lifting, which can place added strain on the knee joints.
