Edge has completed his WWE contract and now there are questions about what is next. Apparently, AEW has a chance to sign him. Could that happen at All In?
Will Edge Join AEW, Work All In England?
The most recent episode of SmackDown felt special, even before the cameras starting rolling. There was talk of Edge possibly wrestling his final match, which garnered plenty of attention.
Throughout the show, WWE looked back at 25 years of Edge. Then, in the main event, he pinned Sheaumus.
After the show, the WWE Hall of Famer spoke to the live Toronto crowd and noted this was his final match to come from that city. As for a future inside the ring, he could go either way.
Naturally, there are discussions if he will make the leap to AEW. Remember, when AEW was first being formed, Tony Khan wanted to sign him.
Before a deal could be made, he told WWE about the offer. So, WWE ran a bunch of medical tests and he was cleared to return.
Sean Sapp noted behind Fightful’s paywall that fans will not see Edge at All In later in the month. Technically, he stated his WWE contract expires at the end of September but he fulfilled all his dates to wrestle.
According to Sapp, “there are many in AEW that think that Copeland coming in could be a real possibility. Those close to him claimed earlier this year that the idea of him working in AEW isn’t as ‘out there/ as you’d think.”
“Obviously, Edge is close with Christian. But, also, Dax Harwood and Cash Wheeler, who helped him prepare for his in-ring return.”
While making an appearance at All In seems unlikely, maybe he could be convinced to sign in the fall. While one more tag team match with Christian would be awesome, Edge should embarrass retirement.
He turns 50 in October and with his previous broken neck, “The Rated R Superstar” needs to be careful.
So, should Edge take the chance and join AEW or adjust to the retirement life?
