He’s had his hands on the briefcase for a while now, and we have an update on Damian Priest’s Money In The Bank cash-in plans.
Sort of.
Specifically, it’s that for the moment, the champion-in-waiting (he hopes) is not allowed to cash in because the current title holder is not medically cleared.
Seth Rollins was revealed to have a decent knee injury just a few weeks ago.
Instantly, speculation ramped up on what WWE might do.
After all, at that point in time, the rough plan had been for Seth Rollins to defend against CM Punk.
Rollins got injured…and then so did Punk.
So for now…neither man should be showing up in our RAW results, which can be found here.
Seth Rollins‘ injury is believed to be a short term issue. Punk’s is not as short.
But, once Rollins was iffy, some expected a possible instant cash in. After all, if the champion needed time off, that is way to quickly and cleanly do so.
That Priest has not, this far into his run with the briefcase, cashed in yet?
This tells me WWE has plans for it, and they aren’t deviating. Unlike some prior cash-ins.
Update On Damian Priest’s Money In The Bank Plans
Priest spoke to The West Sport, ahead of WWE’s Elimination Chamber event in Australia in just over a week.
During the interview, he revealed that right now, with Rollins not cleared, he is not allowed to cash in the briefcase.
Which, assuming that is actually legit and not just part of the story, is a bit interesting.
On one hand, the remark is not all that interesting.
But, when I ponder it, this has me thinking….
WWE wants to ensure Seth Rollins makes it to WrestleMania as champion. He is off limits, letting him heal enough to work the show.
My bet then is we would see Priest cash in either during WrestleMania, or no later than the RAW after WrestleMania.
Why? Well, if I am being honest with myself…when was the last time we had a truly legendary use of the briefcase?
Plus, having the only man to ever cash in at ‘Mania…get cashed in on at ‘Mania? Would be some easy story line stuff there.
