There’s nothing Tony Khan loves more than making “big” announcements on AEW Dynamite, and the promotion’s head honcho is promising a major one for the February 7th edition of the show.
Tony Khan’s Big AEW Dynamite Announcement – Speculation
This past AEW Dynamite brought the action on. WWE Hall of Famer Rob Van Dam (RVD) made a splashing return.
He ended up in the main event and faced Swerve Strickland. RVD was Hangman’s “pick” to face the superstar, meanwhile, Page defeated Swerve’s “pick” of the Mogul Embassy’s Toa Liona.
After Dynamite, the rankings returned to AEW. Page and Strickland led the pack in the men’s standings for an opportunity at Samoa Joe’s AEW title.
Both will face off during the February 7th edition of the show, and a winner gets a shot for Joe’s Championship at the Revolution event. Could Khan’s “big announcement” be connected to this storyline?
What Will Tony Khan Announce?
It’s hard to say exactly what Tony Khan will announce. When he’s hyped this kind of thing in the past, the actual announcements have ranged from ticket sales for All in, to CM Punk’s return to Collision.
Other major ones have included his Ring of Honor (ROH) purchase, and new talent joining the roster. So, what could this one be about?
Dave Meltzer from Wrestling Observer Newsletter recently reported that while Mercedes Mone is doing some acting work, her AEW debut may be announced soon. He also added that her entry into the company would be “played up extremely big”.
Then again, there has also been a buzz that New Japan Pro Wrestling’s (NJPW) Kazuchika Okada is also set to call AEW home, quite soon. It’ll be interesting to see if either talent is a part of Khan’s major announcement.
Fans need to stay tuned to WNZ for any updates regarding this.
