The former Edge headed to AEW, a move made official on October 1st…so is WWE mad at Adam Copeland?
It is crazy to see a man who was a WWE Superstar for a huge chunk of my life suddenly have a new name.
And after 25 years in and around WWE, there are a lot of emotions and a lot of relationships…and then to leave and head for a competing brand, it cannot be easy.
In fact, it could certainly cause some to not like him. Even resent him, perhaps?
As more and more news has come out about the specifics of Copeland leaving WWE, some have wondered if he could ever have one more “one last match” in WWE.
Because, you know, the first couple he had didn’t cut it, I guess.
So…back to the point…
Is WWE Mad At Adam Copeland?
In a word, no.
According to the man formerly known as Edge, and other sources sharing their own insight, people around the wrestling world are happy for him.
And really, why wouldn’t they be?
Here is a former Superstar who had his career cut short in a very abrupt manner. He worked a match and then was instantly told his career was over.
He made the best of it, he got inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame, but he did not end things on his own terms.
You get told you can’t do what you love anymore, it’s not easy.
But, things did not end there, and he worked his tail off to come back. And even a few years ago, just before he did make his triumphant Royal Rumble return…there was a chance he could have gone to AEW even then.
Now, with that WWE deal expired, Copeland knew he had nothing left to do or prove in WWE.
But he still wanted to wrestle, and he had new opportunities…and old friends…in AEW.
It made sense, and from the sounds of it, everyone who knows him in WWE gets it, and no one is mad at him for leaving.
