Bryan Danielson has competed around the world for small and large wrestling promotions. Now, at this point in his life, he is done with the main event scene.

Bryan Danielson No Longer Wants To Be In The Main Event

Many call Bryan Danielson the best wrestler in the world. While he is still better than most out there, a bunch of younger talent are now making that case.

At Forbidden Door 2, Bryan Danielson took part in another main event, when he defeated Kazuchika Okada. Next, he take son Zack Sabre Jr at tonight’s WrestleDream.

This time, Danielson will not close the show. Instead, Christian Cage and Darby Allin shall be the main event.

The placement of that match has many thinking Edge will make his AEW debut. Remember, Edge completed his WWE contract and can sign anywhere.

As for future AEW pay per views, Danielson told Mike Johnson of PWInsider he no longer wants to be in the main event.

“I have joked but only half joking with Tony Khan,” said Danielson. “I was like, ‘I never wanted a main event, another AEW pay-per-view ever again.’ Right? And this is a positive for AEW.”

He continued how he has trouble keeping the pace with the likes of Omega, Will Ospreay and Okada. These could be some of the factors why Danielson is preparing for retirement.

Continuing, Danielson explained that it’s a lot of pressure to be in the main event when AEW pay-per-views consistently have so many quality matches.

“And it is hard for me as a 42-year-old still trying to do this professional wrestling thing to match,” said Danielson. “Say for example, the physicality of something like the Kenny Omega-Will Ospreay match before.”

Even if Danielson stops wrestling, he will always have a role backstage as he helps the future generations.
