Bryan Danielson Skeptical About Being 100% Healthy Again

Forbidden Door is one of the more unique pay per views. The two installments have seen a mixture of AEW and NJPW talent.

Most Americans are familiar with those in AEW. Although, they might not know the wrestlers of NJPW so well considering the company does not on air in the United States.

Therefore, having them under one roof for several hours has produced some one in a lifetime matches. The type of pay per view is perfect for Bryan Danielson, who missed the first one due to injury.

He did work the second one, closing the show by defeating Kazuchika Okada via submission. What makes it the win even more impressive is how Danielson finished the match despite breaking arm.

While speaking with Sports Nightly, Bryan Danielson does not think his arm will ever be back to 100%. He chalks it up to finishing the match, even though he was hurt.

“I think by continually wrestling on it, I’m slowing it down from healing 100%,” said Danielson. “Us older wrestlers like to say, we never anticipated being 100% ever again.”

“So I think that’s kind of where I’m at. It’s fully functional. I can do pull-ups and I can do all these different sorts of things.”

“There’s nothing that’s going to happen to the bone because they put a rod in it with nine screws. The dangerous part, the doctor said, is actually where, if it were to break again, it’s easier to break where the rod ends, because the rod itself acts as a fulcrum that it could bend against.”

“But then really, it’s like the nerve and muscle damage. Part of that is because I wrestled for 10 minutes with a broken arm and then part of it is just the work that we do.”

Danielson did take some time off to rest, even though he remained on TV. He feuded with Ricky Starks, who he defeated in some violent matches.

Earlier in the year, Danielson admitted his time inside the ring is closing. He hinted how he could retire somewhere in the next 12 months.
