We are at a pivotal time in AEW history. The company seems to be in the final stages of finalizing their TV deal and a bunch of contracts are up. WWE has shown interest in former AEW wrestlers, signing several over the past year. Cody Rhodes and Andrade returned to WWE, with The Lucha Brothers rumored and same goes for Ricky Starks.
Miro become part of AEW in 2020 and the belief was they would capitalize on his popularity. He was TNT Champion for a bit, but then began appearing less on TV. His win over Andrade at the end of last year was his last major feud. At the time, his then wife, CJ Perry, turned on Andrade to help Miro get the win. Perry and Miro actually split in real life and Perry is longer part of AEW.
Combination Of injury And Creativity Issue Have Miro Sitting At Home
Despite being under contract with AEW until spring 2026, neither side can agree on something creatively. During a Fightful Select’s Q&A podcast, Sean Ross Sapp went over scrapped plans. “He had pitched earlier this year possibly wrestling Jon Moxley,” said Sapp. “I know they had considered or even wanted him to do the Casino gauntlet match. Neither one of those things happened. He has not wrestled. Now earlier this year when they had announced Meat Madness, they have hoped he would be in it. they found out he was pretty behind in his injury recovery and it didn’t happen. However, he is healthy based on what I heard.”
For now, Miro will continue to get paid while sitting home. Some might take the easy money, but there is the urge to wrestle. Sitting around two more years and collecting paychecks will only go so far. Rusev was over in WWE, hence he might want to return if the money is right. Otherwise, there are plenty of decent opportunities in TNA or overseas. So, will Miro and AEW resolve their creative issues in the near future?
