Guevara has missed a good chunk of television time in 2024. Part of why is due to a suspension. Sammy got himself suspended due to issues in a match with Jeff Hardy where Sammy Guevara didn’t follow established concussion protocols. It wasn’t the first time Sammy was called out for safety issues, but it was perhaps the most egregious. But, he has finally returned to in ring action-except, not in an AEW ring.
As you know, Tony Khan doesn’t just own AEW. He also owns Ring of Honor. And, because he owns both, talent can and do move from brand to brand. As such, Sammy Guevara returned during the most recent Ring of Honor tapings. But, considering he was an AEW regular prior to his timeout, this had some people wondering: was he being kept away from AEW because of some past controversy?
Keep Away?

Specifically, was this a move to keep him away from the former Sasha Banks? After all, Mercedes Mone arrived as Guevara was heading into his time out. And it was Sammy who made some incredibly sexist and abhorrent comments about Banks while he was in AEW and she was a WWE Superstar. So some wondered if AEW was keeping him and her separated.
According to the Wrestling Observer, that is not the case. While the comments are still well known, Guevara has apologized, noting that old Sammy is not the same Sammy as now (this Sammy is now a dad!). Now, the other way to spin it is that AEW is crowded and ROH is spinning back up. Putting a fresh Sammy onto a fresh ROH show gives him a chance to stand out and re-establish himself. So, thoughts on Sammy Guevara not retuning to AEW television?
