A fair amount of WWE stars have jumped aboard the All Elite Wrestling train, but few AEW talent have left the company to head to Vince McMahon’s promotion. With that being said, a wrestler has joined the ranks of Cody Rhodes, currently signed with the company and already training.
AEW Talent Heads To WWE
Thanks to the Endeavor Group acquisition, which should be completed soon, the WWE has decreased developmental talent signings significantly within 2023. Still, one has peaked through, despite this.
According to PWInsider, Brian Pillman Jr. starts with NXT this coming week. He participated in a tryout on July 16th, which took place in Orlando, Florida.
Pillman Jr.’s contract with All Elite expired on July 11th of this year. His profile was promptly removed from the website.
At the age of 29, Brian Pillman Jr. decided to follow in the footsteps of his legendary dad Brian Pillman in 2017. He began training with Lance Storm in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, and started touring the Indies scene, shortly after.
He joined Major League Wrestling (MLW) in 2018 and was mentored by Kevin Sullivan, his dad’s WCW rival back in the day. It was an interesting dynamic.
Pillman first worked for All Elite in May 2019 when he participated in the company’s inaugural pay-per-view (PPV), Double or Nothing. He participated in the Casino Battle Royal.
Still, he was technically with MLW. However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic and MLW shutting down because of it, in July 2020, Pillman Jr. began appearing on both Dynamite and Dark.
On July 9th, 2021, reports revealed that Pillman’s MLW contract ran out. By the time July 12th rolled around, news broke that Brian signed a full-time deal with All Elite.
The young superstar spent three years with the promotion, teaming with Griff Garrison. The duo worked Dark and Dark: Elevation, mostly.
