The AEW Double or Nothing event took place this past Sunday, May 28th, and one star received plenty of praise, backstage, for their performance.

AEW Women’s Star Gets Thumbs Up

As most know by now, the Outcasts’ Toni Storm defeated Jamie Hayter to become the new Women’s Champion at the event. With that being said, heading into Double or Nothing, many were worried that Hayter wouldn’t be able to perform because of injuries.

According to Fightful Select, Jamie’s injuries were legit, and she’s been dealing with them for most of the month. During the pre-event media call for Double or Nothing, Tony Khan addressed the situation.

He did note that AEW had created a storyline reason for Jamie’s injury, thus confirming it. However, he also notes that Hayter was focused on having her match at the pay-per-view (PPV).

This comes as no surprise that she was praised backstage. As per PW Insider, there were many people backstage “praising” Hayter for struggling through her back issues to ensure the AEW Women’s Championship was dropped to Toni Storm.

PW Insider also notes that the Double of Nothing audience was “late arriving” at the venue. Therefore, the arena wasn’t quite full until the Hayter versus Storm match.

Hayter became All Elite, debuting on Dynamite in October 2019. She faced (and lost to) Britt Baker.

Jamie was going to work with the promotion while wrestling in Japan. However, she did not, due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

She returned to AEW during a Rampage episode in August 2021, assisting Britt Baker in a post-match brawl against Kris Statlander and Red Velvet.

Hayter then won her Women’s title at Full Gear in November 2022. While she did drop it this past weekend, she enjoyed a nice 190-day reign with the championship.
