He’s been absent from television programming, and now we know why: Sammy Guevara has been suspended from AEW.

This report comes a few weeks after a really nasty looking spot by Guevara on Jeff Hardy.

In the spot, Sammy leaps from the top rope and strikes Hardy in the face with his knee.

Clearly, this one was a major botch.

However, this was not the cause of the suspension. Nor was this Sammy’s first.

Guevara has been in trouble before, and with any of his suspected botches, you can count on fans getting on his case via social media.

As some noted with the Hardy spot, he has a habit of being sloppy. Maybe it isn’t quite as common as a habit, but you get the idea.

So if he connected with Hardy’s nose, giving Jeff a broken nose and a possible concussion…and that didn’t get him suspended…what did?

According to Fightful, the suspension was a result of Sammy Guevara violating AEW protocols.

Specifically, once Jeff took the shot to the face and was clearly injured, things should have gone a bit differently.

As in, Sammy Guevara should not have followed up the botch by going for and delivering his finishing maneuver.

But he did, and now he has earned himself a suspension.

Based on Fightful’s reporting, there is no known suspension length.

For now, all that is clear is that Guevara broke rules meant to keep him and his fellow AEW talents safe.

Because of that violation, he now has some time off to ponder things.

Injuries are unfortunate, and a part of wrestling. No one is indicating that Sammy intentionally did what he did.

However, with Sammy Guevara suspended, AEW is aiming to send a strong message to all talent that things need to get cleaned up, as what happened could have been much worse.
