You may remember many former champions dropping their belts due to injury, and now we are asking…has Asuka suffered from the WWE Women’s tag title curse?

Then again, you might be skeptical if the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championships are really cursed…but there is a track record.

Asuka and Kairi Sane, collectively known as the Kabuki Warriors, have been tag champions since the early part of the year. They defeated Kayden Carter and Katana Chance for the gold.

Carter and Chance did not suffer from the curse, but they won the titles off of a team which did. Chelsea Green managed to stay healthy, but not her partner. She began her reign with Sonya Deville. Deville suffered an ACL tear and was replaced by Piper Niven.

Going back, Raquel Rodriguez and Liv Morgan vacated their gold at one point due to Liv suffering a shoulder injury. There are other issues along the way, and it’s been discussed openly on air a time or two.

Alba Fyre and Isla Dawn, two Superstars who (by gimmick) lean into curses and such, even suggested they could break said curse.

So…yes…there’s something to it. Maybe.

And now…we have to ask…

Has Asuka Suffered From WWE Women’s Tag Title Curse?

Asuka and the rest of Damage CTRL were last seen on a recent SmackDown once again beating down Bayley.

Except, Asuka was seen limping to the back afterwards.

Now, it’s been reported (via Cultaholic) that one half of the women’s tag champs missed this weekend’s house shows, though she has been pretty regularly appearing this year.

There has been no word from WWE about the missed dates. Or even if these were truly missed, or actually planned. Perhaps Asuka is banged up, but it’s a minor injury just requiring rest and treatment. Best case, she takes it easier leading up to WrestleMania 40.

It is presumed that she and Kairi Sane would defend the titles on one of the two nights in Philadelphia. Based on recent house show activity, the popular choice for challengers seems to be Bianca Belair and Naomi.
