CM Punk made a shocking return to WWE late last year and the company just finalized who will be his WrestleMania 40 opponent.

A decade ago, CM Punk walked away from WWE. He was unhappy and seemingly retired from pro wrestling.

There are rumors he did work a few Indy shows, but under a mask. Then, AEW reached-out and a deal was reached.

It certainly brought AEW plenty of attention, although headaches followed. The vocal Punk was suspend twice for getting physical backstage.

AEW had him return after the first one, which also saw The Elite get suspend. The other incident was at All In.

The second saw Punk and Jack Perry suspended. Days later, Tony Khan confirmed the release of Punk.

Khan noted he felt his life and those around him were in danger. We all figured that was the end of Punk’s wrestling career.

Yet, he shocked the world by returning at the conclusion of Survivor Series in November. His return has been met with mixed reactions from wrestlers.

Punk made it clear he wants to headline WrestleMania, which is something he never did. Therefore, he entered himself into the Royal Rumble Match.

In the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer confirmed his opponent would be Seth Rollins. Although, we have major problem.

On RAW, Rollins suffered some type of injury. He was pulled from live events and WWE is waiting on test results.

Many think the injury is serious and that could change plans. Rollins and Punk have been heavily feuding, so WWE is looking for a huge payout.

I think if Punk gets to headline WrestleMania, then WWE did their job.
