Rey Mysterio is currently out of action due to an injury. However, looks like the WWE Hall of Famer is aiming to return for the 2024 Royal Rumble.
Rey Mysterio Wants To Return To The WWE For The Royal Rumble
The Royal Rumble matches always offer surprise entrants. More often than not, the company will save talents who have recently recovered from an injury to add to the bouts and add to the shock value.
Rey has been off television since November 2023. He required surgery for a torn meniscus and exited storylines after an attack from Santos Escobar.
Mysterio recently was on the Bakers Bantering podcast and talked about his WWE return. He hopes to be back in action, later this month.
This is quite timely since the 2024 Royal Rumble takes place around the same time. During his chat with Bakers, Mysterio states that he just had knee surgery and he’s hoping to return at the Rumble if not a littler after the big event.
More On Rey Mysterio’s Knee Injury
Mysterio adds that he’s “working very hard” to return to the WWE as soon as he can. During an interview on the Konnan podcast, Rey-Rey stated that the knee that was injured is not the same one that has been giving him the most issues over the years.
He added that the torn meniscus was due to “wear and tear” and needed to be addressed. Before he officially exited storylines, Mysterio was the United States Champion.
He would drop his title to Logan Paul at the Crown Jewel event in early November. Shortly after that, LWO was disbanded when Santos Escobar turned on Rey, which helped him exit storylines for his surgery and recovery.
If Rey returns in January or early February, there’s a good chance a storyline with him and Santos will pick up for WrestleMania 40. Only time will tell.
