After such a seismic news story dropped late on Friday, we check in on feelings backstage following Vince McMahon’s stunning resignation.
This news, the biggest story of a young 2024, overshadowed the January 26th edition of SmackDown.

But, back to the news of the day.
McMahon and John Laurinaitis were named in a civil suit by former WWE employee Janel Grant earlier this week.
The claims she made against those men-and others within WWE or associated with McMahon-are despicable.
While we have to reiterate a position of innocent until proven guilty…there’s just so much here to process that it does not look good for anyone involved.
So, how do those remaining feel about things?
Feelings Backstage Following Vince McMahon’s Resignation
According to PWInsider, there were a few varying emotions shared by people behind the scenes.
Some felt that the former chairman got what he had coming. Considering his past transgressions, some of which led to his last brief exit, maybe they were right.
There was said to be a mixture of relief and some happiness to see the mighty McMahon fall one last time.
How Will WWE Replace Kevin Dunn?
Now we will see people waiting and watching for the next shoe to drop.
It was said that while people within TKO and WWE expected a resignation, they did not expect it this quickly.
In the wake of the suit, and before McMahon’s resignation was revealed, long-time corporate sponsor Slim-Jim had announced a pause in their spending with WWE.
There may have been some others changing their minds about sponsorship deals. It’s possible that some of that sped up the process of Vince’s departure.
Moving forward, there is a belief that TKO will seek to remove anyone with ties to McMahon and this situation.
From where I sit, it seems a safe bet that we will see some more cleaning house before this is all said and done.
