It was a busy Tuesday for NXT, with Wes Lee out of action as Nikkita Lyons returns.

Yes, Wes Lee is out. The Superstar had been lined up to challenge Dom Mysterio for the North American Championship at the upcoming Deadline.

However, Lee came to the ring and announced that he was going to miss the event.

It’s been confirmed that Lee has an injury to his back, and that between surgery and rehab, he is expected to be out 8 to 12 months.

That isn’t good news for a rising Superstar.

With Lee out of that title match, there will still be a Lee in it challenging for the title.

Dom’s father, WWE Hall of Famer Rey Mysterio, revealed that Dragon Lee would return to NXT to take a shot at the champ.

But all was not doom and gloom on Tuesday.

Nikkita Lyons, out of action for pretty much the entire year, returned and went right after Blair Davenport.

Lyons was on the shelf due to a significant knee injury and subsequent surgery.

She announced her ACL tear in late January. On the December 5th NXT, she returned and went right for the woman who (in storylines) was responsible for her time away from the fans.

One thing the NXT Women’s Division has is a lot of depth.

However, one thing it does not have? Established star power.

Nikkita was one, but losing her was tough. Tiffany Stratton has been another, as well as Roxanne Perez and the MIA Cora Jade.

Plenty of others have had chances to step up, like current NXT Women’s Champion Lyra Valkyria.

But getting Lyons back should be a nice boost…depending on how long she remains with the black and gold brand.

Prior to her injury, there was some buzz that she would be heading to RAW or SmackDown soon.

Her former NXT tag partner has graduated…could we see Lyons surprise her in January?
