Is Ilja Dragunov Going To Be Okay?
So far, the current WWE NXT Champion has had a successful title run. Since winning the gold in September at NXT’s No Mercy, he’s been riding a high wave.
He defeated Carmelo Hayes for the Championship and has retained the title against him. He’s also successfully defeated “Dirty” Dominik Mysterio and Baron Corbin.
Alas, with the NXT December 19th episode being so close to Christmas, the show was taped this week to allow for talent and the crew to be home with their families for the big holiday. It’s also being reported that Dragunov faced off against Ridge Holland at the taping.
Still, photos surfaced online that showed the NXT Champ, seriously injured. Fans who were at the taping were saying that it appeared Dragunov landed on his neck during the bout.
He was carried out on a stretcher and appeared to have a neck brace on. Many were concerned about the WWE NXT talent.
Some Good News For Ilja Dragunov & His Fans
According to SeScoops, the incident is storyline-related. This is a huge relief for many.
It looks like WWE might be playing on the idea that Ridge Holland is dangerous in the ring. After all, he has been accused of this since Big E’s neck injury that took place during a SmackDown match in March 2022.
As Big E is a wrestling veteran, he realizes accidents happen. He holds no ill will toward Holland, but some fans do.
It’ll be interesting to see how this storyline takes shape in the weeks ahead. Dragunov is scheduled to face off against Trick Williams at the New Year’s Evil event, in a couple of weeks.
