Many wrestling fans remember his most recent character, Zeb Colter, but in real life, Dutch Mantel is in rehab following an illness.
Mantel has been a bit of a polarizing figure in the industry, providing some interesting takes.
No matter what you think of the man now, it’s hard to deny that he did have a bit of success over his last run with WWE.
While working with the company, he managed names like Jack Swagger and Alberto Del Rio.
Though he has slowed down recently, he still remains active and involved with the industry, and posts a regular podcast: Story Time with Dutch Mantell.
The man himself took to social media to share an update on his happenings, specifically following a brief battle with sepsis that saw him hospitalized.
Dutch Mantel Is In Rehab Following Illness
Ever the colorful character, the former WWE manager provided an update via social media, as covered by other sources.
A bit of a summary, with a lesson to boot.
Dutch confirmed that he had an infection, and that by the time he sought proper medical attention, it had spread.
More to the point, the infection had turned into sepsis.
The result for the long time performer? A lengthy stay in the hospital, a good run of antibiotics to clear it and get him back to reality…and now a stint in rehab.
Per his own words, he has headed to rehab to get back more of his strength and get back on track.
If everything goes as planned, he should be home in a week or so, which means he might manage to be home for the holidays.
But, all things considered, I am sure Dutch and his family will be happy just to have him back home, given what he went through.
And, I’d bet this is the last time he lets an infection linger too long. Best wishes to him for a full recovery.
