The purpose of pro wrestling is to entertain. And, for the most part, that is exactly what talent do each week.
Sometimes, the entertainment aspect needs to pause because of situations around the world. It does not happen often, but wrestling companies do stop storylines to honor their fallen comrades.
AEW was still new in late 2020. Then, as the pandemic grew, fans learned Brodie Lee had passed away.
The cause of death was revealed to be Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis.
Today, marks three years since his sudden passing. AEW posted the following video to remember him.
AEW was praised for how they handled the passing of Brodie Lee (real name Jon Huber). They still keep his and his son’s profiles on the official roster page.
Lee did not spend much time in AEW, but he was pushed well during his stay. He won the TNT Championship and also challenged for the AEW World Championship.
It did seem like AEW had major plans for Brodie. He had been mimicking Vince McMahon at the time and was revealed to be the leader of The Dark Order
Before AEW, he was Luke Harper of the Wyatt Family. Sadly, we also lost another member of the stable over the summer in Bray Wyatt.

As part of the Wyatt Family, they delivered some great moments on TV. With only Erick Rowan and Braun Strowman left, the stable is likely done.
Brodie Lee passing away was very sad, but AEW did their best as he is still remembered today.
