Will Ospreay was the surprise Tony Khan had promised for Full Gear. Now that he has officially signed, some AEW contract details have been revealed.

Will Ospreay AEW Contract Details After Surprise Announcement

Tony Khan promised a huge name was coming to AEW. Tons of wrestlers were discussed like Dolph Ziggler, Mercedes Moné and Goldberg.

In the end, we learned Khan was talking about Ospreay. It was not the biggest shocker in the world as fans have seen him compete a bunch for AEW.

Sean Sapp in Fightful’s paywall went into further details about the latest addition to the roster.

Ospreay remains part of the New Japan Pro Wrestling (NJPW) roster until the end of January 2024. Technically, that is when he no longer needs to respond to NJPW.

“The move happened well before Ospreay’s NJPW deal was up, which left many surprised considering the nature of his deal with New Japan Pro Wrestling how that it happened,” said Sapp.

Now, NJPW and AEW do have a working relationship, which has allowed for events like Forbidden Door. Even though Ospreay is with NJPW, they were okay with him speaking to other promotions and were under the idea he might leave.

NJPW even helped facilitate the deal. The multi-year contract signed will allow him to work select dates for NJPW.

Ospreay was getting feelers from WWE and Impact Wrestling. A major point for him was location as he lives in Europe.

Also, it seems like WWE learned earlier in the week that Ospreay was likely All Elite. Saturday’s show confirmed their suspicions.

Once  contract negations intensified over the fall months, he became open to the idea of moving to the United States. No word if Ospreay will make the long travel to the states or keep living out of Europe.

Apparently, Ospreay did not sign on the dotted line until right before the pay per view started. It was a big risk on Tony Khan’s part since he was promoting this for about a week.
