As Ospreay’s New Japan Pro Wrestling (NJPW) contract expires in February 2024, there has been a buzz that he could head to the WWE. A new report reveals possible plans for the wrestling talent.
Possible WWE Plans For Will Ospreay
With his contract ending soon, there has been word that the current IWGP United Kingdom Champion has received some major offers from other organizations, including AEW, TNA, NJPW, as well as the WWE. He has noted in the past that he didn’t want to relocate from the UK, which placed a damper on joining the WWE.
Since then, he’s stated that he’d be open to moving to the U.S. Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer Radio recently talked about one plan the WWE is throwing around for the star.
Meltzer states that an idea brought up was that NXT Europe would be “built” around him. Dave questions how much money the WWE would be willing to spend on that.
He also brings up the negative impact the original NXT UK had on the England Indies wrestling scene. Still, Dave also notes the company didn’t run regular shows and just did television tapings.
Meltzer states the WWE has got the “go-ahead” from Endeavor to revive NXT Europe (NXT UK). However, he also notes that it is unknown what this “revival” entails.
Does AEW Have Some Creative Problems?
The talent has recently competed for TNA/Impact Wrestling during their UK tour. It’s hard to say what is next for him, only time will tell.
At the age of 30, the wrestling star is in the prime of his career. While he’s been on the indie scene and performed in All Elite Wrestling (AEW), Ring of Honor (ROH), NJPW, and Impact, he’s yet to jump to the WWE.
Will 2024 be his year? Fans will have to wait and see.
