Santos Escobar and Rey Mysterio are no longer on the same page, leaving many to wonder what WWE will do with the LWO. For now, it seems like a plan is in place.
Santos Escobar And Rey Mysterio Angle To Cause LWO Split?
From the beginning, Escobar was going to turn on Rey Mysterio. I think we all knew that when they were paired together at the start of the year.
A bigger question was what would happen with the group. While nothing has been confirmed, some information has been discussed.
On the Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer went over the angle. In particular, he noted how the group looks to be divided.
“It’s gonna be Santos and some partners vs Mysterio with partners,” said Meltzer. “I don’t know what they’re going to do with the LWO name, which side gets it.”
“Maybe they’re even going to feud over the name.”
“Obviously, Carlito will be with Rey and Escobar will be with Cruz del Toro and Joaquin Wilde. I don’t know where Zelina is going and that’s the situation there.”
The concept makes sense, seeing how Escobar brought Cruz del Toro and Joaquin Wilde to the main roster when he also made the jump.
Based on reaction alone, Zelina Vega working the babyface side seems to be the indication. WWE could have another female join the feud to even the sides a bit.
Whatever is going to happen will likely need to be delayed. Mysterio has been wrestling hurt for months and recently underwent surgery.
The Hall of Famer is respected to miss around 8 week of action. Therefore, the angle might need to cool until early next year when everyone is healthy.
So, is Santos Escobar and Rey Mysterio the right call? And, what will happen with the popular stable?
