It has been confirmed that Bryan Danielson recently had surgery for a broken orbital bone. The good news is that he’s on the mend. However, AEW fans everywhere want to know one thing, and that is, when is he expected to return to action?
Bryan Danielson AEW Update – Estimated Return
The AEW star sustained an orbital bone injury on October 21st during a match against Andrade El Idolo during AEW Collision. Still, he was in action the following Wednesday during Dynamite in a tag team bout.
While there was hope Danielson wouldn’t require surgery, Tony Schiavone announced during a recent AEW Control Center that he already had surgery and will be out until “later in the year”. This puts his potential participation at New Japan Pro Wrestling (NJPW) Wrestle Kingdom in jeopardy.

Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer Radio addressed the situation. He notes it may be “touch and go” for the January 4th event, since he had surgery.
Meltzer states that “hopefully he can do it”. He also talks about the fact that the star is close to the end of his AEW contract and wrestling full-time.
Interesting Change Coming For The Miz?
BD didn’t place an exact time on when his AEW contract is done. Still, it is in and around September, and Dave doesn’t believe that Tony Khan will extend it due to injury if the superstar wants to be done.
The wrestling legend left the WWE in the spring of 2021, after an incredible 11-year run. While he did step away from in-ring competition from 2015 to 2018 due to a “retirement” thanks to injuries, his return to action was explosive.
Just as explosive as his All Elite Wrestling debut in September 2021. Wherever the superstar lands next for his career, everyone here at WNZ wishes him a speedy recovery with his current injury.
