Legends come and go, and the company likes having some succession…so has WWE found the next Rey Mysterio?

It is a tale as old as time…yes, I went there.

But, when we grew up with Hulk Hogan, there were always questions about who the next Hogan would be.

Or the next Undertaker, or Triple H, or Stone Cold, or The Rock.

You see how this is going…

WWE, and its fans, love their legends, and they are always looking for the next great young Superstar who could become the next great legend.

One area where this has probably been more true than anywhere else? Latino Superstars.

The company struck gold when it landed Rey Mysterio and Eddie Guerrero (they can thank Paul Heyman for putting them on the radars of the big wrestling companies, but I digress).

Eddie was gone far too soon, unfortunately.

Rey has been around for seemingly forever, and the 2023 Hall of Fame inductee is still going strong.

But, he won’t be going strong for forever, and the company is always eager to give it’s fans the next great Latino talent…and now we ask…

Has WWE Found The Next Rey Mysterio?

We know they’ve tried and tried. Fans remember Sin Cara and how that worked out.

Alberto Del Rio was supposed to be even bigger than Mysterio…but we saw how that went.

Andrade was great…in NXT. On the main roster, like many others under Vince…he went nowhere.

So…Dom Mysterio is going to take over for his dad, right?

I mean, perhaps…but that isn’t who Rey thinks is his successor.

Rather, the current United States Champion believes that Dragon Lee could be “that guy”.

The company signed the international star just about a year ago, and a few months later he was a fast rising NXT Superstar.

Now, after some exceptional showings in the last month or so, Dragon Lee is now on SmackDown.

Honestly, I think that the company is enjoying a great run with its current Superstars of Mexican heritage. Dragon Lee may be their next Rey, but looking at talent like Santos Escobar, the returned Carlito and yes, Dirty Dom…WWE is in great shape.
