According to a report, while the public hasn’t always “seen” it, for about a year or so, there has been a “power struggle” for control over WWE’s creative on-screen product. More on this story, below.
Triple H Wins Control Of WWE Creative
When Vince McMahon “retired” in the summer of 2022 and HHH was given the reigns to WWE Creative, fans could certainly “see” changes to the company’s onscreen product. Then, when a dozen or so released stars returned, audiences could feel the promotion going through an incredible transition.
All these feelings turned into mixed emotions when McMahon returned to the WWE to see the sale of the company go through. One can only look at the RAW after WrestleMania 39 to feel VKM’s presence in the show.
Still, as per a PWInsider report, now that the sale to Endeavor is complete, looks like Paul Levesque is coming out on top in this power struggle between him and his father-in-law for control of this area in the company. Wrestle Ops on X/Twitter also shared that there’s a belief that Vince is no longer involved these activities and that Paul has been “knighted” by Endeavor.
What Are WWE’s Plans For Carlito?
It goes on to say that Levesque is driving 99.9 percent of the creative, from now on. While there is a “tug of war”, and VKM will give his thoughts and they’ll go with what McMahon wants, the weekly weeds are sown by Hunter.
Fightful Select’s Sean Ross Sapp also chimed in on X/Twitter corroborating this report, revealing that audiences can see who is in charge currently, simply based on the superstars appearing regularly on TV. He points to stars like Johnny Gargano, Tegan Nox, and Dragon Lee “all over” programming.
He also mentions Carlito’s return, Cameron Grimes being back on television, Bronson Reed scoring wins, and the IC and Tag Titles getting long matches to close RAW. These are all little hints that Paul is in control.
