Ari Emanuel, CEO of Endeavor, made the call to remove Vince McMahon from overseeing WWE Creative and instead have Triple H take over that position.
Ari Emanuel Responsible For Removing Vince McMahon From WWE Creative
For the longest time, Vince McMahon was in control of WWE. He has majority of the shares and therefore could basically do as he pleased.
Things changed last year after Vince was pushed into retirement after hush-money payments were made public. He briefly retired before strong-arming his way back onto the board.
This time, Vince was prepared to make a drastic change. He looked to sell and there were several people interested.
In the end, Endeavor made the purchase. Over the summer, Endeavor officially merged the WWE and UFC under the same name to be traded on the stock market.
A new board was created, featuring names from WWE, UFC and those already working for Endeavor.
We have already seen a drastic change made. Vince is no longer running creative and Triple H was named his successor.
According to Sports Illustrated, Endeavor CEO Ari Emanuel made the final call.
“Multiple contacts within the WWE and UFC have confirmed that Ari Emanuel, who wields power as the Endeavor CEO, is behind the change,” stated Sports Illustrated.
“Emanuel has long been a firm believer that, in order for an organization to be as effective as possible, people need to do the job they are assigned. In this case, that approach has empowered Levesque to exert his full influence in the company’s creative sphere.”
Fans have began to see the changes almost instantly. Many of the names that Triple H likes are back on TV and in actual storylines.
Vince McMahon remains on the board, but Ari Emanuel clearly has the final word. And, he is not afraid to make changes if it improves the company.
So, did Ari Emanuel make the right call by having Triple H replace Vince in the creative direction of WWE?
