After last week, this SmackDown In A Nutshell gives us a simple question…will John Cena fight alone?
Last week, Cena signed on the dotted line to fight alongside AJ Styles, taking on Jimmy Uso and Solo Sikoa.
Except, Solo and Uso took out Styles before he could sign.
And, since then, we’ve seen WWE graphics hyping a Cena versus Solo and Uso handicap match on this week’s RAW.
Of course, a birdie told us that things were a little off script last week, and Cena was going to tag with a megastar. Just..his eventual partner got sick, so stay tuned.
Aside from all that, what can we expect from Sacramento?
Charlotte battles Bayley, for one.
Santos against Rey…for the US Championship? Yes please.
Or, you know, more Fastlane hype, as that is getting closer.

Let’s crack open this Nutshell and see what happens.
Best Match of the night:
Going to be really hard to top this one…
Worst match of the night:
Not sure I want to complain about a match at all.
Everything worked, served a purpose, flowed and all that. No complaints.
Crowd Chants of the Night:
Decently hot crowd, though nothing stood out.
Star of the Night
We got to see a different Jimmy tonight, perhaps triggered by that epic slap. He gets kudos, for sure.
Rey can still go. Santos should get that belt eventually, preferably on a PLE, but Rey can still go.
Cena is as Cena does, and while at least one Hollywood strike is over, let’s enjoy him for as long as we can.
Spot of the Night:
Michin Mia Yim slapped the taste…and a lot more…out of Jimmy Uso’s mouth.
Now, what I didn’t like was Solo, and even Heyman, looking as though they expected Jimmy to do something.
To a woman.
Maybe I am reading that wrong, but it didn’t go over well.
Uso sold the heck out of it though.
Jobber of the Night:
I could have gone with Anderson, but no.
How about Ashante “Thee” Adonis. One of the final members of Hit Row left, he had to be feeling lucky having survived the cuts last week.
Insight Into Some WWE Releases
Until tonight, when he was destroyed by an angry Jimmy Uso and Solo Sikoa…backstage, not even in front of the crowd.
Upset of the Night:
IYO SKY is surely upset, because Bayley effectively booked her into a triple threat match, with SKY’s title on the line.
Charlotte, Asuka and SKY do battle at Fastlane.
Holy Sh** Moment of the Night:
Don’t adjust your dials, Karl Anderson really wrestled a match on television.
So too did Cameron Grimes.
And yes, we finally found out Cena’s partner.
A week later than desired, the man had to beat a positive COVID test to get there, but LA Knight made Sac-town pop as he saved Cena and signed the contract.
Botch of the night:
Solo delivered a spike to Karl Anderson.
Just, it clearly hit his shoulder.
LOL Moment of the night:
Cena rolls in late…and we are to believe that he came right from the airport, dressed as his in-ring self…then only carried with him the folio with the Fastlane contract…and went through the metal detector without even setting it off?
I mean, that made me laugh for so many reasons.
And yet…that type of happening was a staple of prior eras, so I didn’t hate it.
Noteworthy Moment:
For those who pay attention to these things…
When they re-did the intro segments not long ago, but after his last match, fans held out hope because Edge was still in the package.
Now…not so much.
Not saying this confirms Edge is AEW-bound…but the signs are starting to really add up.
Overall lowlights:
I am sure someone will complain about something…but…not me, not now.
Overall highlights:
Well, just when there was doubt about the Street Profits, they destroy Rey and Santos and the LWO to get back in Bobby’s good graces.
Honestly expected them to beat up Waller and Theory, since they were right there when Lashley told them to prove it.
Love Dragon Lee getting main roster love. It would seem to be a safe bet that he’s not doing much more work down in NXT.
LA Knight getting the Cena rub…that tag match should be fun.
After the final bell:
Overall, very enjoyable show from where I sat.
Maybe could do with a bit more Fastlane hype, but the reality is…it’s not a major PLE, so the hype fits.
