Out of action for the better part of a year, we look to find out when might Kyle O’Reilly return?
The former NXT tag champion, now in AEW, O’Reilly has been out of action recovering from a significant neck injury.
And as we know with professional athletes, especially wrestlers taking bumps and risks on a regular basis, the neck and spine can be challenging to heal.
O’Reilly was a somewhat overshadowed, with Adam Cole being the biggest star in Undisputed Era and now Undisputed Elite.
Cole might get the lion’s share of the attention and opportunities, but Kyle more than holds his own.
The pair had some incredible matches back while still employed by WWE, both as a team and as opponents.
Cole was the first to jump, but O’Reilly did eventually land in AEW, to much less fanfare.
At the moment, Cole, O’Reilly and Roderick Strong are all part of AEW, but we have not seen KOR in a year.
Adam Cole spoke on a podcast recently, and the subject of his longtime friend came up.
When Might Kyle O’Reilly Return?
This won’t be a major shocker, but Cole had no return date.
Now some of this could be him not sharing what isn’t his to share…but given the challenges surrounding recovering from neck surgery, he probably really doesn’t know.
What the new best friend of MJF could offer is that Kyle continues to work hard and push forward and do all that he can do to make an AEW in-ring return sooner rather than later.
Still, O’Reilly’s style is a hard-hitting and physical form of combat, so I am sure that anyone involved with his recovery is going to be extra careful with his rehab and eventual return to the ring.
Perhaps a return would coincide with his longtime friend (Cole) needing some help dealing with MJF.
