This probably won’t shock anyone, but there are huge hopes for Main Event Jey Uso as he settles into his new home on Monday nights.
In case you missed it, Cody Rhodes (per the storyline) pulled some strings and called in some favors and had RAW “sign” Jey Uso.
Because, going back a couple SmackDowns, Jey quit and walked out.
So, the American Nightmare called in his favors, and during Saturday’s Payback, we saw Uso get introduced during the Grayson Waller Effect.
Fans were happy then, and they were happy during the opening segment of the Labor Day RAW, which surely makes WWE top brass happy because of those…
Huge Hopes For Main Event Jey Uso
Per a report from Fightful, WWE officials are hopeful that Jey Uso can transform into a major singles star, without any involvement from or interaction with The Bloodline.
That reasoning was the driving force behind a change of brands for the man who went toe to toe with Roman Reigns at this year’s SummerSlam.
On one hand, it is interesting to hear that WWE officials still have high hopes, because looking back during the Thunderdome-era shows, that’s when Uso earned that Main Event moniker.
Yes, he was doing it as part of the Bloodline and while working with Reigns…but he was still doing it..
Now, seeing him on his own, even if it was just a couple early examples…things look good.
What we are left to wonder is, what might this move do to any planned brother versus brother battle.
After Jimmy returned and prevented Jey from defeating the Tribal Chief, fans had expected we’d see the twins battle as soon as Payback.
How Long Until We See Jimmy Vs Jey?
We did not, and there were whispers that some executives didn’t want them to fight until WrestleMania…which would be a really long wait.
I could see that long delay working if they effectively just bury that history for the next few months, only to have one brother cost the other brother during the Rumble.
That would allow it to re-ignite and then a match for the first time in Philadelphia (City of Brotherly Love) would make a great deal of sense.
For now though, WWE is hoping for more and more big positive reactions as Jey Uso stands on his own.
