We knew these were coming, and now we know that Dana Warrior among over 100 WWE layoffs.

September 15th was a pretty painful day for the Stamford-based company, specifically the back of house and day to day areas.

There had been chatter that no one-including on-air talent-would be safe from the cuts.

For now, we have not seen any Superstars released.

Per a report, rather than cutting performers, leadership apparently has identified those they feel are under-performing, and they will be under close scrutiny.

As I interpreted that, talent releases are entirely possible, if not probable, but not yet.

For now, we know a number of executives have received their pink slips.

Layoffs are an unfortunate byproduct of large mergers.

The companies being merged will review their org charts and find the overlap.

As you put these companies under the TKO banner, certain departments do not need to exist within the UFC and WWE offices.

Rather, TKO will make cuts and unify the staff under one singular department supporting both entities.

In Friday’s cuts, there were also a number of senior management roles cut, but the biggest one wasn’t a redundancy or an executive.

Dana Warrior, the widow of Hall of Famer The Ultimate Warrior, has been with the company for over four years.

During her time with WWE, she has worked in a few areas, including (surprisingly!) creative, but also community outreach.

She had also been involved in the annual Warrior Award, presented at the Hall of Fame festivities.

On the heels of her layoff, there was no immediate indication of what impact it might have on the future of the award named for her late husband.

I’d have to imagine, given it’s stature on the Hall of Fame ceremony, that WWE would prefer to keep it going.

However, I would also expect that right now, she might not be super thrilled with the company.
