After just returning from a series of head injuries, it appears that Adam Cole is once again on the “injured” list after suffering a broken ankle during the AEW Grand Slam.

Update On Adam Cole’s Injury

After being out of action for close to a year, thanks to a concussion suffered during Forbidden Door in 2022, the AEW star is back on the shelf. The reason is due to a broken ankle that occurred earlier this month at Grand Slam.

Cole confirmed his broken ankle, in multiple places, during this week’s AEW Dynamite. He also told fans he would need surgery.

While he was about to relinquish his Ring of Honor (ROH) World Tag Team Championships, his partner, MJF objected, noting that he’d face The Righteous on his own during the WrestleDream event. This takes place in Seattle, Washington, this Sunday, October 1st.

The talent’s ankle was injured while cheering and running down the ramp to help MJF when he was defending his AEW World Championship against ROH World Television Champ, Samoa Joe. It’s unclear how long he’ll be out of action.

While there’s never a good time to get injured, this setback occurred not long after he recovered and returned to the ring after a number of concussions, he suffered, adding uncertainty about his wrestling career. Still, he ended up returning, only to deal with this ankle injury.

From 2017 to 2021, the talent was in the WWE, performing mostly in NXT. During his tenure there, he became an NXT Triple Crown Champion, holding the record for the longest-reigning NXT Champion, an NXT Tag Titleholder, and the inaugural North American Champion.

Shortly after his WWE release, he became All Elite in September 2021. During his time with AEW, he’s managed to win the Owen Hart Cup in 2022, and currently one-half of the ROH Tag Titles.
