Less than a week ago, WWE and NJPW produced their second installment of Forbidden Door. Basically, the matches either see wrestlers from both companies wrestle each other or team.

There were plenty of matches and nothing really bombed. Will Ospreay defeating Kenny Omega to regain the IWGP United States Heavyweight Championship and Bryan Danielson submitting Kazuchika Okada are easily the two best matches from that night. Unfortunately, in the main event, Danielson was injured during the last 10 minutes.

Also, MJF opened the main portion of the show by defending his AEW World Championship opposite Hiroshi Tanahashi. At almost 47 years old, Tanahashi’s time as being the best in the world is over.

At the end, Tony Khan says Hiroshi Tanahashi is a legend and his performance was due to several injuries.

“I think the vast majority of fans who follow the sport closely know that Tanahashi’s a legend,” said Khan on Busted Open Radio. “That it’s amazing that he’s fighting through these injuries and doing the best he can.”

“He’s got bad knees and every once in a while, he might have a slip as he tries high-flying moves. But, Tanahashi is one of the great legends of the sport and certainly over the years, he’s accomplished so much. Not everything Tanahashi does is the same as it was 10 years ago or 15 years ago.”

Khan would continue to praise Tanahashi’s matches with MJF at the pay per view, and also against Swerve Strickland from Collision.

For now, it seems like Tanahashi is headed back to NJPW. Hopefully, he returns for Forbidden Door 3 as he looks for his first-win from the cross-promoted event.
