It surprised many when it happened, so now we get to wonder about how Tony Khan felt about CM Punk at RAW.

There was quite the buzz when Punk made an unexpected appearance before RAW in Chicago a couple weeks back.

The visit did not last long.

CM Punk managed to talk to a few Superstars, and wanted to meet with Triple H.

That was about when Vince McMahon found out and requested Punk to leave.

Now the bigger question:

How Tony Khan felt about CM Punk at RAW…

According to the Wrestling Observer, Tony Khan was not happy to learn that CM Punk was at RAW.

No word how he felt about Punk at IMPACT, though given the working relationship, that probably wasn’t an issue.

It seems that Tony Khan was apoplectic about it, given the major conflict of interest.

After all, Punk is under AEW contract and all that.

Of course, we’ve seen other contracted talents show up backstage. AEW talents have been to WWE events, and WWE talents have been to AEW events.

I suppose the difference now is…most of those were barely noticed, and none of them involved talents as controversial as Punk.

Now, while the Observer generally believes that Tony Khan didn’t know Punk would be there…Meltzer did have some wild speculation.

What if, how Tony Khan felt about CM Punk at RAW was a bit of an act?

As in…what if Tony Khan and CM Punk actually talked about it before the show.

The speculation-and let’s be clear, that is all just one crazy theory-is that Punk could have gone to Tony Khan for permission.

And Khan realized two things. One, it would be a massive news story and thus good publicity and two…he couldn’t be seen to have allowed it.

In that scenario, Khan acting crazy about his mercurial star visiting with his main competition would be the perfect cover.

It’s just one crazy idea, but Meltzer is sticking with the “Khan didn’t know” story.

For what it’s worth, a number of WWE Superstars steered clear of Punk, as they mostly all felt his appearance in Chicago ahead of RAW felt like a way to get publicity.
