WWE’s recent roster cuts created a lot of speculation on why. Now, a new reason has come into focus, and it seems it wasn’t just about the dollars and cents but was also about making space for new talent coming in.
Speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, Bryan Alvarez said WWE’s latest roster cuts, especially in the women’s division, were part of a larger plan.
“For whatever reason, Giulia and Roxanne are still considered NXT talents, ”he said. “But, I was told it’s not set in stone, but very likely at the end of this month, when they’re doing that series of dates in Tampa, there might be a draft on that weekend or that week. Which would probably mean that some people are being called up. And by the grace of God, it should be Roxanne and Giulia.”

“… There’s a reason that a lot of women were cut in the last couple of weeks,” he added. “They are making room on the roster for a lot of other women to get called up.”
Giulia returned from injury last month and quickly made an impact with a heel turn in NXT. Roxanne Perez has been one of the gold and black brand’s most meaningful stars and made a statement at this year’s Royal Rumble with a record-setting performance.
If the draft happens as expected, both could be full-time members of the main roster in the very near future. And with that, WWE’s next era could already be underway.
