It has long been billed as WWE’s “biggest party of the summer”. So big that in the near future, the event will become the second WWE premium live event to span two days. But for now, it remains a single evening. And for the 2024 edition of SummerSlam, it hits Cleveland in just a couple days-the event happens this Saturday. So, with just one SmackDown remaining before the big night, the card should be pretty much locked in, right?

Maybe not.

According to Fightful, while the card is looking quite stacked, there might still be more changes and additions coming to the final lineup of the 2024 edition of SummerSlam. We know of the big ones already-Drew McIntyre and CM Punk, Gunther and Damian Priest, Solo Sikoa and Cody Rhodes. We also have Liv Morgan defending against Rhea Ripley and Nia Jax taking aim at Bayley’s title. And, of course, we cannot forget Bron Breakker and Sami Zayn or Logan Paul and LA Knight. So, yes, the card as it stands is indeed fairly loaded.

Plus, in recent months, there’s been a lot of chatter about premium live events mostly running a five match format (or close to it), similar to the classic NXT TakeOver format. Tony Khan has, predictably, taken a shot at that, too. But, while a five match show might work fine for the “filler” shows, SummerSlam is anything but. It exists as one of the big four WWE premium live events, and as such, it gets a bit more leeway. Right now, there are seven matches on the show. Could WWE add another one or two? Or will they throw something unexpected into the mix for one of those matches already on the schedule? After all, we did (predictably) get The Miz as our host for the show. What else might we get?
