Simple and to the point, it’s time for the RAW results for August 12th, 2024. The main event will be a best two out of three falls, Bron Breakker versus Sami Zayn, one more time for the Intercontinental Championship.

Quick Results:

  • Damien Priest pinned Carlito clean. After the match, Judgement Day ran in and made things interesting. Once again, JD took the bulk of the abuse. A couple thoughts here. One, that was a lot of time on that feud, between the opening segment and match. Two, Judgement Day has the numbers, so at some point they have to beat down the Terror Twins, else the group will lose any credibility.
  • Odyssey Jones squashed Vincent Winey. McAfee had fun with Winey’s name, and you could see Xavier Woods was still not happy, not near as happy as Kofi. Interesting point during the post-match work with The Final Testament. Kross spoke to Austin to show him some respect-but was he talking to Austin the crowd or Austin (Woods’ real name). When Kofi grabbed the mic from Woods, Xavier did not look too happy still. Is next week the week Woods loses it?
  • American Made defeat Alpha Academy in a Texas Tornado match. Of note, before the match, Ivy Nile told Maxxine not to go down to the ring. At the end of the match, Nile attacked Dupri, which led to the end of the match and the Creed win.
  • Damage CTRL and Pure Fusion Collective ended in a no contest (I think) when Unholy Union interfered. As such, no new #1 contenders, but I would assume such a move sets up a triple threat match instead.
  • Bronson Reed destroyed The Miz. And R-Truth, for that matter.
  • Bron Breakker defeats Sami Zayn, 2 falls to 1, and retains the Intercontinental Championship.

Best Match

This was an easy call. Sami Zayn and Bron Breakker was a great 2 out of 3 falls effort. Sami is one of the best, and did a stellar job elevating Breakker in this feud.

Worst Match

I could gripe about Carlito and Priest, because the good stuff happened after. I could complain about the women’s tag match for a similar idea. But I wouldn’t complain loudly about any of it.

Noteworthy Moments

Nice debut for Odyssey Jones, and there remains some awkwardness around Xavier Woods. I kind of hope that they don’t turn him, but it’s kind of now or never. Either they turn him, or they clearly, once and for all, make it clear he isn’t turning.

I did find it curious that Karrion invoked Big E’s name on the mic. I feel like that isn’t something that has been said or done too much. Curious if that is a harbinger of things to come, or just a comment and nothing more than that.

Candice Michelle was shown in the crowd during the Damage CTRL match. Another more interesting appearance? Oba Femi, the NXT North American Champion? He was in the crowd as well. Feels like they are prepping him for bigger things.

Holy Sh@# Moments

Miz looked ready to crush Truth for getting him a match against Bron Breakker. That was after what happened last week. But then, Truth and Miz took a bunch of tsunamis from Reed, with Truth getting the Seth Rollins treatment. Hard for Miz to hate Truth now, right? Or perfect moment to use for heat and a heel turn?

Lowlights

Sonya Deville revealed the name for her group, and if I heard it right, they are the Pure Fusion Collective? Not feeling it. I give someone credit for being a little different, I guess? But it’s long, it’s wordy, and it doesn’t really do much for me. Sounds more like a think tank or something. Considering they’ve been a presence for a few weeks and only now we got a name, it tells me they were struggling. Maybe it will grow on me?

Maybe a lot of time, but a nice segment to open RAW and the match that followed? From that we are getting Dom and Liv versus Rhea and Priest at Berlin in a mixed tag. Gunther and Randy Orton is going to be top notch. Another excellent segment ahead of that title match. Bronson Reed continues to be a monster. Punk and McIntyre seem destined for a strap match, if their interaction tonight was any indication. Sami and Bron? Loved it.

After The Final Bell

Things certainly heated up tonight on RAW. Some new news for Berlin, and some yet to be announced but seem easy enough to predict. Bash In Berlin is just a couple weeks out, and the RAW side of the card is coming into focus nicely.
