Quick Results:

  • Chase University loses their NXT Tag Titles back to Axiom and Nathan Frazer. Post-match, Ridge Holland turned on members of Chase U, likely setting up a new feud.
  • Zachary Wentz defeats Wes Lee, giving the TNA visitors a big PLE win. Fun match, regardless of the outcome.
  • Kelani Jordan retains the women’s NXT North American Championship over Wendy Choo. After the match, Tatum Paxley took out Choo.
  • Oba Femi retained his North American Championship against Tony D’Angelo. OK match, but I think it’s time for the Family to either turn heel or graduate to RAW or SmackDown.
  • Roxanne Perez defeats a very game Jaida Parker to retain the NXT Women’s Championship-for now. And I say for now because following a ton of hype, Giulia has debuted in NXT. The talented new Superstar came down to the ring following the match and it’s a virtual certainty that she’s going to be Perez’s next challenger.
  • All Ego Ethan Page held onto the NXT Championship, defeating Joe Hendry. Guest ref Trick Williams did what he could to keep things from breaking down, though he ultimately got put down by Pete Dunne.

Noteworthy Moments:

There were a few. First, the heel turn by Ridge Holland. He didn’t make it long as a babyface, but this could breathe some new life into things for all involved. Pete Dunne, a former running mate of Ridge’s, is also doing damage in NXT-he has it out for Trick Williams, and got involved again this evening.

Another TNA talent (and former WWE Superstar) got a win, this time on a PLE. Non-title match and all, but still a pretty cool thing to see. Never would have happened under former leadership.

But the biggest story coming out of Sunday’s No Mercy? Without a doubt it will be the long-awaited, highly anticipated debut of Giulia. It seems likely that this would lead to a title match at Halloween Havoc. Or, could WWE go really big for the October 1st debut of NXT on the CW Network? Something tells me they will go big, but I don’t think it will be Giulia versus Roxanne sized big.

What Comes Next:

After these NXT No Mercy results? In terms of premium live events, the next time NXT puts one on will be Halloween Havoc. But, if we are eying major shows, that October 1st CW premiere show has to be circled. As with RAW and SmackDown when they debut on their new home platforms, I fully expect WWE to go big for the NXT CW debut. We already know they have some major guest Superstars visiting in the early weeks, but I doubt that’s all they pull off.

In terms of feuds? Pete Dunne and Trick Williams are up. Ridge Holland versus all of Chase U is as well. Roxanne versus Giulia has been a long time coming, sort of. I don’t know where Ethan Page goes next for a challenger, however. Joe Hendry was fun and all, but a re-match would be odd, unless WWE is actually going to put the title on him? Regardless, the next couple months should be fun for NXT!
