After a nice bit of nostalgia for Saturday Night’s Main Event, will WWE bring back other classic championship belts?
For practically as long as he’s been back in WWE, Cody Rhodes has made no secret of one desire. He wanted to ditch the rather ugly current generation of championship belts. In place of those, he wanted to bring back a belt that many of us know and love.

The Winged Eagle classic championship belt
Despite the belt coming back for one night only, it left something to be desired. Some fans on social media called it out for being effectively a WWE Fanatics shop replica, just held by the real champion. But forgetting that for a moment? It was awesome to see the famed Winged Eagle back as an active title belt. Even if it was just for one night.
And now “Mat Men” Podcast host Andrew Zarian has revealed some interesting information about the winged-eagle belt’s return being the start of something bigger.
“I was told that merch sales (replica title belt sales) would play a big part in making this a regular thing,” he wrote on X.
So, there you have it. Sales drive decisions. Which isn’t really a surprise. This sounds like if certain replicas do really well, we may see someone trot out with one in place of a current active title. And we already know there will be more opportunities. The next Saturday Night’s Main Event is slated for the end of January.
If sales are strong, could we see The Rock’s custom Brahma Bull belt back for a spin? Or, speaking of spinners, shouldn’t that classic John Cena creation return in 2025 for the biggest farewell tour in WWE history?
