The company very recently kicked things opened for legends, but why wasn’t AJ Styles inducted into the TNA Hall of Fame?

AJ Styles has performed around the globe. Literally, the man has been just about anywhere in the world by way of a wrestling ring. For a stretch before he would be called a WWE Superstar, he would call TNA his home. And while he may not be the best TNA performer ever ( I am not a TNA expert historian, so I cannot comment), he certainly should have been in consideration for their honor.
And apparently he was
Per Fightful, TNA had indeed considered inducting AJ Styles into the 2024 class heading into the company Hall of Fame. Given that WWE and TNA are enjoying an interesting working relationship now, such a door would seem to be open. Even before any sort of Hall of Fame nod, Styles has long been expected to return to TNA in a cameo at some point.
And, per the report, WWE and Styles-or a combination of them-declined the honor. For now, anyways. AJ Styles will surely go into any and all professional wrestling halls of fame once he concludes his storied career. I have no doubt TNA would put him in quickly. It is interesting to see Styles potentially be that protected by the company. Understanding that his lis franc injury is impactful, you can see why both Styles and WWE may have taken a cautious approach to the recent TNA offer. Not that a Hall of Fame induction would have lead to something. But those whispers about a Styles return match in TNA would have grown really loud had the Phenomenal One appeared. Even if it was “only” a Hall of Fame induction. And perhaps TNA wants to wait until it could have an AJ Styles dream match against anyone before they fly him out to a major TNA event.
