The Rock commands one of the biggest fan followings in the world. However, his huge popularity could be declining based on his recent social media numbers.
A fan on X pointed out a huge dip in The Rock’s Instagram followership. Previously, “The Final Boss” had 398 million followers. But that number has now dipped to 393 million. This means that The Rock lost close to five million fans on the platform.
It’s quite surprising since Dwyane “The Rock” Johnson is one of the most renowned celebrities in the world. He carved out a successful in-ring career and became the flagship WWE star of the Attitude Era. “The Great One” eventually made the jump to Hollywood and would go on to become the highest-paid actor in the industry. Starring in top films like Jumanji, The Fast and the Furious series, and Black Adam under his belt.
However, his dip in followers could be a result of his recent actions. He returned to WWE during the buildup to WrestleMania 41. And he played an integral role in turning John Cena heel at the 2025 Elimination Chamber after Cody Rhodes refused to sell his soul to him.
Many believed that the former WWE Champion would become a key factor in the rivalry between Rhodes and Cena, leading up to The Show of Shows in Las Vegas this year. However, The Rock chose to step out of the feud entirely and even skipped WrestleMania 41, despite major rumors of his appearance, and faced major backlash.
“The Brahma Bul”l later stated in an interview with Pat McAfee that he chose not to appear at WrestleMania as he wanted the entire spotlight to be on Cena and Rhodes only. Even his explanation did not sit well with the fans.
