As AEW was heading into All In, Swerve Strickland was World Champion. He dropped the belt to Bryan Danielson, but he still won. Shortly before the event, he re-signed with the company and it was no standard contract. Apparently, the new deal makes Swerve one of the highest paid wrestlers in the entire business. WWE heard and they did not like AEW’s move.

Basically, WWE thinks AEW made a huge error. In the eyes of WWE, they offered too much money. Therefore, it allows for other wrestlers that are not mega stars, like John Cena and Roman Reigns, to request more than they deserve. While WWE might have a point, it is really not their business. Typically, in sports and entertainment, we see everyone making more money as times goes on.

On the The Breakfast Club, Swerve made it clear why WWE is upset. “They only complain when a black person gets paid, I will say that,” said Strickland. “If I’m not your concern, don’t worry about it, don’t worry about my pockets and our money, we’re good. You have got your talent. Like you made your decision with me two years ago, no hard feelings from me. I keep it moving and I’m going to figure my way out and I’m going to build myself up.”

After dropping the belt at All In and then losing to Adam Page at All Out, there is no return date set. Although, he could be back rather soon after seeing what occurred on Dynamite. Prince Nana was providing an update on his client, when MVP debuted and hinted at wanting to represent Swerve. Whatever happens, good move on AEW to re-sign Swerve as WWE would have grabbed him once he hit free-agency. So, did WWE blow it by letting Swerve Strickland go to AEW?
