We already know that Randy Orton missed a massive chunk of time due to major injuries and the associated surgeries and recovery. Of course, he made a big return at the 2023 Survivor Series, though his return was not the biggest. As he’s worked himself back, he’s been open about wanting to go as long as he can, possibly until he is 50. That number is important-here’s where things get interesting.

A possible new deal

According to Fightful, it appears that WWE and Randy Orton have agreed to terms to a new five year contract. His last WWE contract as also a five year deal inked in 2019. There are a couple important points here (provided the new deal is done, which it seems to be). First, given the amount of injury time he missed, WWE could have certainly tacked on time to the current deal. It seems that they may not have done that.

Second? Remember, Orton has said he’d like to wrestle until he is 50. A new five year deal signed in 2024 would take him until 2029. He will turn 50 on April 1, 2030. So, depending on the actual terms of the contract, any newly signed WWE deal would certainly get him very close to that potential retirement date.

According to the Fightful report, those who were asked made some telling comments. The source was asked why injury time wasn’t just tacked on first. The response called out how much things have changed in WWE since the deal had been signed. The schedules are different, the TV deals are better. So much has changed, per the report, that the smartest and fairest move was a new deal. I am mildly curious if the sides didn’t actually make it five and change, to get him to a potential retirement match at WrestleMania in 2030. Either way, it seems the Viper isn’t going anywhere.
