Michael Cole Reveals Corey Graves’ Head Shaking Excuse For Recent Drama With WWE

Corey Graves got the attention of the wrestling world following an out of nowhere outburst on social media last month. It came after he was removed from the main roster commentary teams and switched to NXT. The change saw Michael Cole and Pat McAfee as the WWE RAW announce team, and Joe Tessitore and Wade Barrett on SmackDown.

However, after missing a week, Corey Graves returned to commentator duties as part for NXT on the January 21st show. He now calls the action alongside Booker T and Vic Joseph and seems to be getting his groove back.

Many assume that Graves’ surprise comments on social was over frustration about losing his spot despite being, arguably, the company’s best announcer. However, during a recent appearance on Logan Paul’s “IMPAULSIVE” podcast, long-time commentary partner Michael Cole claimed Graves offered up a hard-to-believe reason for his social media meltdown.

“That’s a strange situation. I love Corey. Love him to death. I still don’t understand all the dynamics of it,” Cole said. “I know that he said something out on social media that was pretty critical of the company. He tried to explain to everyone that he was trying to generate some interest in maybe a type of a storyline. I don’t think the company saw it that way.”

“I think him and the company are working that out. I love Corey to death. He’s an unbelievable commentator. Beside [Pat] McAfee, he’s probably the best partner I’ve ever had,” said Cole.

Corey Graves has been a part of WWE for a long time. He started out as a wrestler in NXT, but chronic concussions ended his career. However, last year it was reported that he has been cleared for a return to the ring. So the idea of a storyline and match isn’t completely ludicrous. But the excuse also seems like trying to walk back a big career miscue.
