What’s Going On With Corey Graves And WWE, And Is His Shocking Departure Imminent?

WWE has undergone many changes recently — especially to the broadcast teams — and talented ringside analyst Corey Graves is not happy about it.

To recap things, WWE moved RAW to Netflix. That debut happened on January 6, 2025. In the midst of the change of homes, the company also made a change to the announce teams. Calling RAW? Michael Cole and Pat McAfee (for now). On SmackDown, it’s Wade Barrett and Joe Tessitore.

Based on the announced teams, Graves was the odd man out. So naturally, WWE sent him down to NXT, where he joined the booth with Booker T and Vic Joseph last week. Now, we’ve had three-man booths before, and they can work. NXT wasn’t one of them.

As such, Corey Graves is one unhappy person, and his posts on X this week show it.

Corey Graves airs grievances with current position in WWE

“Imagine chasing your dream. Then being TOLD (not deciding) that you’re no longer physically able to pursue your dream. Then you dedicate your life to something “dream adjacent” and being pretty f**king awesome at it,” he wrote.

“And then, when it’s time to enjoy the fruits of your labor, being told you’re not famous enough for your own job. Just in case you’ve wondered where I’ve been.”

Fans were definitely thinking this was an angle, but it may not be. According to both PWInsider and Fightful, Graves was pulled from Tuesday’s NXT show. He was not seen at the afternoon walk-through, and it was reported he was actually spotted at Orlando International, getting as far away from NXT as possible.

Taking things at face value, this does sound like an angry and justifiably upset Graves. Going from a seat on Mondays or Fridays to a third wheel at NXT (legit what he was called). WWE may have pulled him to prevent a 2025 pipe bomb.

Or, as some fans have floated? This is all a work. Graves has long wanted back in the ring. There were reports in the recent past that Corey Graves had actually been cleared for an in-ring return. This could easily turn into a Graves return in this year’s Royal Rumble. And if he’s angry at Pat McAfee for “stealing his spot” on RAW? What’s stopping WWE from booking Graves/McAfee at WrestleMania?
