This one might make some people happy, as Indy God Matt Cardona has revealed that he wants to end his career in WWE.

It has been four years since Zack Ryder was released from WWE. And unlike a number of other fan favorite Superstars, Ryder is one who just hasn’t come back to WWE yet. Recently, his wife returned to the company. With Chelsea Green back in the fold, many fans suspected it was just a matter of time for the former Long Island Iced Z to do the same.
Except, Zack Ryder is dead. The man behind Ryder has said so, plenty of times. Matt Cardona has spent a great deal of his time post-release remaking himself. He is now the Indy God, the face of GCW and perhaps the biggest free agent wrestler (at least in the men’s locker room. Becky Lynch is still out there).
There is new hope.
Cardona, in an interview with Sports Illustrated, just gave fans more hope. He ran down what he’s done, before and after his time in WWE. And he said that he absolutely wants another WWE run. He wants his WrestleMania moment once again. He wants to work Madison Square Garden again. Cardona was blunt and to the point. He won’t come back as Ryder, but he does want to come back and finish his career in WWE.

Another interesting comment was in there too. Like many Superstars, that big title, a world championship, has eluded him. But Matt Cardona said in the interview that he (who isn’t in WWE now) feels closer to a WWE world title now than he’s ever been before. From a status point of view, I’d agree. Much like Cody Rhodes, Matt Cardona’s career in WWE peaked and needed to leave. And like Rhodes, Cardona has done amazingly well on the independent scene, breaking out of the previous mold they were stuck in. The re-made Cardona is one of the best. Adding him to WWE could be an amazing move.
