As the crossover continues, don’t expect TNA’s Nic Nemeth In NXT any time soon, and his reasoning makes a whole lot of sense.

Nic Nemeth has spent plenty of time in WWE. Fans better know him as Dolph Ziggler. As Ziggler, he held numerous titles, including a notable time going down to NXT and holding the NXT Championship. But, as tenured as he was, WWE released the veteran in a bit of a surprise move. In another bit of a surprise, he was not snapped up by AEW. Rather, now calling himself by his real name, Nic Nemeth found himself in TNA.

Just over a month ago, Nemeth struck gold, winning the TNA World Championship at this year’s Slammiversary. And, on the heels of that win-and with the WWE-TNA partnership in full swing-people still wonder-could Nemeth join in the fun? Especially now that he’s the champion of another promotion, it would probably be a crazy television moment, right? Probably, except the champion does not want any part in a return-for him-to NXT.

Why not?

Speaking with the Battleground podcast, he explained his position. Frankly, it makes perfect sense. As Nemeth says, him returning to NXT wouldn’t do much. He’s been there, he’s held the title, it wouldn’t really change anything in his mind. He didn’t completely slam the door on the collaboration, however. Nemeth was quick to say he would be willing to take part if it benefited both companies.

As far as what would it take to get Nemeth back on WWE television? He went bold. Specifically, if someone provided a challenge or opened a door for a surprise on either RAW or SmackDown? Then he’d be really open to it. Not even only because it would be his main roster return. But because it would further elevate the WWE-TNA partnership. Outside of Jordynne Grace in the women’s Royal Rumble (and Mickie James before her), we’ve yet to see a men’s TNA talent on main roster programming. With some big television moments in the months ahead, could we see that change?
