WWE superstar Cody Rhodes recently admitted a heel turn is coming, and it could be sooner than some fans expect.
Speculation about Rhodes turning to the dark side has been discussed often over the last year. Especially when TKO board member The Rock attempted to force him to go bad earlier this year. However, the former WWE champion remains one of the company’s most popular stars. So there is no rush to end this hot run.
However, he knows things always change in the wrestling business, and during a recent interview with Kay Adams at Fanatics Fest, he suggested a turn could come within a year.
“I don’t ever get tired of [being a babyface], because you get to have all of this, and these moments. I do think we are probably at the tail end of it, though,” Rhodes said. “There’s only so much someone can like. I would like to do it until the end of my career. At a certain point, they want to see somebody else. I get that. And that’s where you have to change as a character.”
Rhodes stated that his goal is not to be a cool heel that splits fans. He wants to be truly hated and loathed. He then added that he thinks he has “a solid year” left as a baby face. But it could stretch out to as far as three years if fans stay behind him.
