For the first time in two decades, WWE is reviving the Bad Blood premium live event. Sure, they dropped a D, but the event is otherwise the same. And it was at Bad Bloodd back in 1997 that we had the first ever Hell In A Cell match. Ironically, the 2024 edition of the ever so slightly re-named event is the 27 year anniversary, to the day. With such history in mind, surely this year’s Cell match featuring CM Punk and Drew McIntyre would be the main event, right?
Maybe not
There have been conflicting reports of which match goes on last when we get to Atlanta. Dave Meltzer has been saying that it would be the Cell match, while Fightful recently countered with the favorite being Cody Rhodes and Roman Reigns in their tag match. PWInsider dove into it a bit more, which helps us understand the main event plans. Per that report, WWE had indeed planned to key on the Hell In A Cell match. Partly because it’s a massive and special match (and the anniversary of it), and part because the Punk/McIntyre feud has been a big one.
But then we have also heard that there are those suggesting WWE pivot and run the Rhodes/Reigns versus the Bloodline match last. After the SmackDown theatrical promo aired last week, you could understand why. There are reports that WWE has arranged for a local marching band to play Rhodes to the ring. Plus, both Superstars have played up their strong ties to the Atlanta area. But the biggest takeaway from the most recent report?

As of right now, WWE has yet to make a decision. Interestingly, they’ve not opted to just call them co-main events. That would be nice, but ultimately only one match gets the literal main event slot. Either match can easily make a case, and it may come down to a day of show call. The deciding factor could even be the enormous cell structure, so stay tuned.
